Hall of Fame - Jim Armstrong
On April 12, Jim Armstrong of American Roller Company became the 42nd person to be inducted into the NCCA Hall of Fame, the first such honoree in three years. Aaron Small of Macsteel Service Centers, a former NCCA president who is familiar with Armstrong’s contributions, announced the award at the 2011 Annual Meeting in Fort Myers, Fla.
Small noted that Armstrong’s participation in NCCA spanned a quarter of a century, never missing a spring or fall meeting. As an industry leader, Armstrong served as NCCA president in 1997 and 1998, additionally serving as 1st vice president, 2nd vice president, and immediate past president, with a total of 10 years on the executive committee. He also served on at least five NCCA committees, often as chairman or vice chairman.
Armstrong also led NCCA to establish its first website, represented NCCA at MetalCon, NDMA, and ECCA, and was active in the World Coating Survey Task Force.
The NCCA Hall of Fame was created in 1992 to recognize members who have made outstanding contributions to the association and the industry. Inductees must meet specific criteria for leadership, involvement, and activity in NCCA.
