Hall of Fame - Lawrence Whited
On April 13, 2008, NCCA President Roger Sieja inducted Larry Whited of Centria into the NCCA Hall of Fame, the first inductee since 2006.
Sieja called Whited “an excellent example for all of us,” noting that Whited served as an active proponent of NCCA and pre-paint at Metalcon and to architects, specifiers, engineers, and major mills. Whited also participated in NCCA meetings on safety, physical testing, environmental issues, and processing.
Whited’s active participation in NCCA spans a quarter of a century. He served as secretary of the Physical Testing Committee for two years and as chair for three years. He also served on the NCCA board of directors for three years.
Speaking at his induction at the NCCA Annual Meeting in Tucson, Ariz., Whited said, “When I see the other members of the Hall of Fame and realize that some of these guys were the founders of the coil coating industry, to be part of that list is truly humbling.”
Those who are inducted into the NCCA Hall of Fame must meet certain standards of association activity and be a good example for our industry. Since the inception of the Hall in 1992, only 41 people have been so honored for their exceptional contributions to the coil coating industry.
