NCCA Announces Winner of Pollution Prevention Award

Chicago, IL - The National Coil Coating Association (NCCA) announces Roll Coater as winner of the Annual Pollution Prevention Award.

Roll Coater's objective was to develop a new, conventional wastewater treatment system. The new system engineered by the environmental team entailed the evaporation of wastewater to leave a dry residue. Such a strategy falls in line with the Environmental Protection Agency's regulatory objectives and the Clean Water Act's goal of zero pollutant discharge to US waters.

The results were successful, with a 75% reduction in cost to treat wastewater, and a 40% reduction in volume of waste to be treated.

NCCA's judging criteria was based on originality, weight reduction, economics, energy reduction, and toxicity reduction.

"We're really pleased to see the member companies developing innovative and environmentally sound methods," explains Kelly Garbin, Executive Director for NCCA. "These days, every company in the industry must be environmentally conscious."
