NCCA Inducts the 47th Honoree into the Hall of Fame

Cleveland – May 2017 – On April 25, 2017, Al Dunlop was inducted into the NCCA Hall of Fame during NCCA's Annual Meeting in Naples, Fla.

"I had the great pleasure of working with Al Dunlop at Valspar for many years," said Jeff Alexander, NCCA Past President. "Al served as a great mentor to me, so I’m honored to present this special award to him."

As a veteran of the coil coating industry, Dunlop earned the respect of many through his positions with Valspar and Glidden. He was a strong supporter of NCCA during his career, and he continued his advocacy on behalf of the industry and the association as the first NCCA technical director.

Prior to Dunlop taking on the role of technical director, he attended meetings for many years and supported NCCA through his roles on committees and as a member-at-large of the executive committee.

As technical director, Dunlop represented NCCA well at many organization meetings, including MCA, CRRC, ASTM and ECCA. His work increased the visibility of the association and led to recognition of NCCA as the source for information and technical expertise related to coil coating. Dunlop also played an important role in many NCCA projects and activities through active engagement with the technology, marketing and program planning committees.

Dunlop kept the membership abreast of timely topics that include EPDs, the Zinc Coalition, possible changes to the MCA certification program, LEED, standards work in ASTM and much more.

The NCCA Hall of Fame was created in 1992 to recognize individual members who have made outstanding contributions to the association and the industry. As a general rule, hall of fame honorees must have been active participants in the association for at least 15 years, and must have been an active committee chairman, an officer or have held a similar responsibility for at least five years in the association. In addition, the candidate must be an active promoter of NCCA and coil coating, a good example for NCCA and been an active participant at the NCCA Annual and Fall Meetings, including serving on NCCA Committees.
